When we all stand before Him, it is not about our skin color or earthly achievements. He will separate us as sheep from goats (Matthew 25:31-46), rewarding us for our actions, whether “good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10).

To love God is to keep His commandments (John 14:15). So why is giving to someone we love such a struggle for some believers (2 Corinthians 8:7). If an individual says they love their family, they go home and seek to be faithful to their family. No one has to make them come home or be responsible for those at the house because they are in love with them. The same should be true for God. No one should have to make us come to God’s house or be responsible for what God says He wants His family to do.

The democratic system is what it is; God's will is perfect. People packed planes and sports games and went back to work, but not to the church. This voting season has also exposed the church. To see the hatred, anger, and polarization that our churches are demonstrating is mind-boggling. It is interesting to note, in the scriptures, that the Lord does not pick sides, in other words, He does not ride donkeys or elephants. When the Lord of Host confronted Joshua (Joshua 5:13-15), the Lord demanded that Joshua do what He said. When Jesus was physically on earth, He clearly stated, "” “He is the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6).

It is an interesting question because God is everywhere, all at the same time (omnipresent). It is like asking how can I experience the sun while standing in it. We can learn from several persons, one of whom is Paul because Paul said, “…….I no longer live, it is Christ that lives within me… .” (Galatians 2:20). Paul would also say he is drunk with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:15-18). This is not unique to Paul because Christ dwells in us as well (Ephesians 1:3-4; Titus 3:5).

Sometimes, when there are struggles with illnesses, jobs, marriage, the stress of being a single parent, and the constant stress of managing long bills with a short budget, all we can see are problems. So when God says, “Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence, and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things,” we say things like `I don’t know if I can do that or that is hard.’ The major problem with our thinking is that this verse requires faith, and it is faith that God rewards (Hebrews 11:6). This verse requires that we keep our eyes on what God is doing (since every good and perfect gift comes from above, James 1:17), rather than what our circumstances dictate.

- [Don’t Flinch](https://powerwalkministries.org/dont-flinch/): Everyone wants to make the best decisions for the most productive results life has to offer.  However, the best decisions require the greatest need to process information effectively for the best results.  The best results sometimes require the greatest sacrifices. “More than that, I count all things to be lost in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them, but rubbish so that I may gain Christ…” (Philippians 3:8; NASU)
- [Now](https://powerwalkministries.org/now/): The issue of obeying God in giving is difficult for some people because their budget is already strained. As a result, giving to God is not the focus; it is more about how God can bless me. Biblically, this creates more significant needs, stress, and expectations from God that often do not produce the desired results. “Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (Luke 6:38 NIV)
- [Flee](https://powerwalkministries.org/flee/): Temptation is a powerful animal that can devour all of us (Matthew 4:3. 1 Thessalonians 3:5). The Word of God states in Galatians 5:17, "For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please." This verse should remind us of the power of temptation. Temptation is so powerful for Joseph that he leaves his garment and runs. However, in the case of David, he did not run; he satisfied the flesh by first looking at Bathsheba, which led to adultery and murder. Because the flesh is weak, we must behave like Joseph and flee. This may be why the Lord's Prayer includes temptation. Matthew 6:13 states, "And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from evil."

Hollywood, with fashions from Paris influences, Hollywood magnifies and glorifies these images so much that it has become an industry. Plastic surgery is now a big business, not just for seniors who want to look young, but also for young boys and girls who want to emulate what they see in Hollywood or what is glamorized by musical artists. Some people don’t just want to look good; they have plastic surgery to look just like some of the movie stars. Amazingly, if these same people go to other parts of the world, they would be viewed as too skinny and unattractive.

Corrie Ten Boom and her sister, Betsy, are there, along with ten thousand other women, in horrible, degrading, hideous conditions. They are gathered with some women in the barracks in the midst of the beds, cold, hungry, and lice-ridden; Betsy is leading a Bible class. Orieof, the other woman, calls out derisively from her bunk and mocks their worship of God. They fall into conversation, and this woman says what so frequently is flung at Christians: "If your God is such a good God, why does He allow this kind of suffering?"  Dramatically, she removes the bandages and old rags that bind her hands, displaying her broken, mangled fingers, and says, “I’m the first violinist of the symphony orchestra. Did your God will this?" For a moment, no one answers. Then Corrie Ten Boom steps to her sister's side and says, "We can't answer that question. All we know is that our God came to this earth and became one of us, and He suffered with us and was crucified and died. And that He did it for love.”

He was told to leave a stable life in Haran only to have a nomadic life (moving from place to place, no restroom facilities, no kitchen, etc.), living in a tent throughout Canaan and then to become separated from his cousin Lot. He had to fight a war against the two kings of Sodom and Gomorrah to defend and save his cousin Lot. He had to deal with ‘baby mama drama’ because of issues between Sarah and Hagar. He had to kick Ishmael out of his house, whom he loved. He had to endure a drought only to be forced to go to Egypt with a pretty wife when God knew that Pharaoh loved pretty women. How could this be living in the will of God?

There are times we find strength, and there are times we become despondent, perplexed, or even mad at God. These feelings can become so overwhelming that they affect our relationship with God and those around us, whether the children we parent, our marriages, extended family, church family, or even ourselves. We can feel helpless and defeated, which can lead to isolation. We are not the only people who have experienced this. There are great men of God like Elijah (1 Kings 17-19), David (Psalm 28, 42, etc), and even Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-46). Paul says to Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:13, “When you come bring the cloak …….. . Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds.  Be on guard against him yourself, for he vigorously opposed our teaching. At my first defense no one supported me, but all deserted me; may it not be counted against them. But the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me, in order that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear; and I was delivered out of the lion’s mouth. The Lord will deliver me from every evil deed, and will bring me safely to His heavenly kingdom; to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.” (NASB) How can we, like Paul, learn to grow through these times rather than feel defeated and distant from God and others?
- [The Privilege](https://powerwalkministries.org/the-privilege/): If there is anything that I battle with in my walk with the Lord, it is not praying as I go, but habitually taking time to pray alone with God. This practice was part of Jewish culture. Daniel was dedicated to prayer no matter the opposition, and Paul as well (1 Thessalonians 5:17). The woman with the unjust judge was persistent (Luke 18:1-8), and her persistence provided a great result. This act of dependence on God is a powerful demonstration of our trust in His grace and love towards us.

He falls to the ground, dumbstruck. The reason is apparent. It is one thing to piece together an informed but imperfect image of dinosaurs by picking through fossils and bones. - [Just Gain](https://powerwalkministries.org/just-gain/): From a human standpoint, I have always wondered what it like was to wait 25 years for one child while being promised, Abraham, you would have a nation with inhabitants like sands of the seashore, something he never saw. How does he not waver in faith (Romans 4:18-21)? He was told to leave a stable life in Haran only to have a nomadic life (moving from place to place, no restroom facilities, no kitchen, etc.), living in a tent throughout Caanan to become then separated from his cousin Lot. He had to fight a war against the two kings of Sodom and Gomorrah to defend and save his cousin Lot. He had to deal with ‘baby mama drama’ because of issues between Sarah and Hagar. He had to kick Ishmael out of his house, whom he loved. He had to endure a drought only to be forced to go to Egypt with a pretty wife when God knew that Pharaoh loved pretty women. How could this be living in the will of God?
